Legendary Magnum Band Represents the Best of Haitian Konpa Music

Magnum band is classic Konpa at its best. Dadou Pasquet founded the group in 1976, and they have released a string of chart toppers, including "Fierte", ":Pike Devan", and "Paka Pala".

Their music blends elements of Calypso and Afro-Cuban rhythms. A strong horn section, violins, guitars, and percussion round out their signature sound.

Dadou himself has been hailed as a virtuoso guitar player. Magnum has been a goodwill ambassador for Haiti for the last 25 years.

What Magnum Band represents in the Haitian music

In 1976,two brothers Andre Pasket and Claude Pasket founded the Magnum Band. The two brothers were well known in the Haitian music scene and many people considered them as voices to reckon with as far as the Haitian music was concerned. In fact, Dadou as Andre was also called, was an acknowledged vocalist, guitar player, composer as well as an author while his brother Claude, also known as Tico, was amongst the top drummer and percussionist in Haiti. These unique combinations of talents have made the band popular as it has maintained their style of performance in the region thus gaining much respect in the area. In fact, it is the longest surviving band for the past 30 years.
