CaRiMi with Carlo Vieux, Richard Cave and Mickael Guirand

CaRiMi is a music band comprised of Haitian members. The band has 9 members and it is popular for playing Kompa genre of music. The band did not start with 9 members. CaRiMi is the love child of three passionate musicians who met at New York. The name CaRiMi is derived from the first two letters of the names of the three friends who are the true founders of the band. Ca in CaRiMi is derived from Carlo Vieux, Ri is from Richard Cave and Mi is from Mickael Guirand. All three founder members were Haitian by birth and left their country because of its political and financial instability.

Though all three of them left separately from their country and did not know each other, their passion for music brought them together in New York and in 2001, CaRiMi's first release was Ayiti Bang, Bang. The song was destined to become popular and after its release, Ayiti Bang, Bang achieved global popularity within a very short span. The reason behind this popularity was the essence of the song that truly reflected Haitian situation.

Over time, the international music industry recognized CaRiMi and the band's popularity spread across the globe with maximum recognition coming from Canada, Paris, various parts of Europe and homeland Haiti. ToutMizik recognizes CaRiMi members as Haiti's best ever musicians in Kompa genre. Kompa is Haiti's national music genre for more than two centuries. Compa was first popularized in 1955 by Nemorus Jean-Baptiste who was a guitar and sax player from Haiti.
