This year, unlike every other year, the country would celebrate the carnival in a different mood. As the main carnival would begin on February 7th, it has coincidentally become the same day when a new leader is supposed to be sworn in as the President of the country unless the January 24 election is delayed.

Since the country is days away from a bitterly contested election, the streets of the cities are witnessing quick alternate scenarios of celebration of festival and political rallies. At some moment, people were seen dancing with Rara band, marching with the throbs of drums, the incantatory wail of vaksin floating everywhere in the air, magically, within an hour, these peaceful revelers are seen replaced by angry rock-throwing mob protesting against alleged election frauds.
