South Africa declares official mourning for Makeba

South African President Kgalema Motlanthe on Wednesday declared a period of national mourning for music legend and anti-apartheid activist Miriam Makeba.
All national flags will be lowered to half-staff beginning on Thursday, until her funeral and cremation, which has yet to be scheduled, his office said in a statement.

The memorial service of the late songstress, Miriam Makeba, will be held on Saturday at the Coca Cola Dome in Northgate, Johannesburg.
The world-renowned singer, who was affectionately called Mama Afrika, died of a heart attack shortly after performing at a concert in Italy on Sunday night.
