Jocelyn Beroard the Antilles Golden Disc Award Honoree

Jocelyn Beroard, a native of the Antilles, is one of the founding members of the zouk-influenced group Kassav', meaning cassava, a tuberous root used to make tapioca. Jocelyn began as a back-up singer in 1980, singing on Kassav''s second album Lagué mwen. Eventually, Jocelyn would become lead vocalist for the 15-member group, but not before they underwent many changes in their line-up. As Kassav' formed and re-formed, two dancers joined the group, a natural extension to the African and European cross-pollinating rhythms, which create an energetic and irresistible dance beat.

Suzanna Lubrano, Accomplished Zouk Singer

Born on November 10, 1975, Suzanna Lubrano is an accomplished Zouk Singer. She is based in Rotterdam and several of her albums have reached the success of gold and platinum and throughout her music career, Suzanna has won various international awards for music. Suzanna moved to Rotterdam, Netherlands along with her family at the age of 4. She picked up singing at a very early age but she picked it up as a profession when she was 18.

NJIE Caribbean Queen of Jazz

NJIE was born with the birth name of Muriel Ako in Guadeloupe in the Caribbean. Guadeloupe is part of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles, a protectorate of France and part of the European Union.

NJIE was raised in a family of musicians and dancers. Her aunt, in particular, was a talented flamenco dancer and sang opera as well. NJIE remembers hearing Bizet's Carmen played on the phonograph often. As she grew older, she decided she wanted to study opera, but her family didn't have the money to send her to France. Instead, NJIE found herself hanging around the local clubs in the afternoons after school. It was there she got her start as a singer, jamming with local jazz musicians.

Suzanna Lubrano's Lasting International Appeal

Zouk artist Suzanna Lubrano, barely out of her teens, came to the attention of the record-buying public when she began singing with Rabelados in 1996. Their first issue, Sukuro, began opening doors for Suzanna, who many record executives thought could have greater success as a solo artist.

She began releasing several singles during the latter half of the 90s and early 2000s. The music industry's faith in her talent and drawing appeal was affirmed in 2003 when she captured Best African Female Artist for the first time, winning the top honor again in the Online category in 2010.

Born in Paris, Stevy Mahy had a background of music since her childhood. Both of her parents were musicians. Stevy realized that MySpace could be the perfect outlet for music and she turned out to be right. She signed up with MySpace where she met Victor. Over a period of 6 months, during their communication through MySpace, Stevy and Victor came close to each other. Stevy asked Victor to perform live on a TV program and this further strengthened their relationship.

She grew up in Martinique and has become a popular zouk-love singer. Her popular career began in 1984, when she worked with Jean-Michel Cabrimol's Maffia.

Edith Lefel began working with the big band Malavoi in 1987. Her last recent album came out in 2002, and used elements of beguine, mazurka and merengue. She died in her sleep. Autopsy results revealed a combination of smoking and birth control pills as the cause of her demise.

Sonia Dersion, a native of the Antilles, is an artist who is not his first coup d'essai.
