T-Vice Remains a Long-Time Fan Favorite

Compás band, T-Vice, has been riding the waves of success in the Caribbean for 22 years. Brothers Roberto and Reynaldo Martino formed the group, along with James Cardozo and Gerald Kebreau. They use a mix of reggae, meringue, flamenco, and American rock to create their pop sound.

Their first album, Konpa Kontak, was an instant sensation, followed by Kité'm Viv, another chart-topper in 2006. T-Vice has worked with Carimi, rival band, Djakout Mizik, Wyclef Jean, and reggae singer, Buju Banton

T-Vice Long-Lasting Proponents of Konpas Music

Miami-based Haitian Konpas band, T-Vice, inherited its music legacy from Top Vice. Top Vice's Robert Martino, a guitarist legend, passed the baton to his two sons, Roberto and Reynaldo. The group began as a quartet with boyhood friends, James Cardozo and Gerald Kebreau in 1991.

T-Vice transformed Konpas music, bringing new life to the genre with a lively dance beat. They used reggae, merengue, flamenco, and rock and roll influences to create an innovative brand of pop music. Massive international touring have made them the foremost exponents of Konpas music. Europe, the Caribbean, and the U.S. have been frequent destinations on their tour schedule.

Djakout 1, T-Vice, Carimi not in Labor Day West Indian Parade, Eastern Parkway

The West Indian Carnival, known as the Labor Day Parade, which is held in Crown Heights, Brooklyn every year, is a fun-filled, well-highlighted stage showcasing the wealth of musical genres, interesting sounds and pure talent from Caribbean and South American bands. Each year, dozens of musical acts flock to the carnival that attracts millions and, this year, Haiti's presence was resoundingly hollow, an eventuality, which was foreshadowed after last year's already emaciated Haitian showing.

The festival goers go every year primed to see diverse musical styles coming out of different countries and, since the popularity of the festival has grown so tremendously from its beginnings as a gathering of Caribbean artists, organized by the committee started by Mrs. Jessie Waddell Compton and housed in various enclosed spaces including the Savoy, the lack of any Haitian acts promoting Konpa and other popular forms of Haitian music is a lack the country's music industry can ill afford.

James Cardozo and T-Vice

James Cardozo is a singer in the Haitian Group T-Vice. The T-Vice musical group was formed in 1991. James Cardozo and his friend Gerald Kebreau joined the group which was by then comprised of two brothers, Roberto and Reynaldo Martino, sons of renowned Haitian guitarist Robert Martino of the classic Top Vice band. The group appeared in the hit single Party By The Sea along with rapper Wyclef Jean and Jamaican reggae artist Buju Banton. The band mainly does kompa type of music. Musical influences from reggae, merengue, flamenco and modern synthesizing from Ansyto, Fabrice Rouzier, Robert Charlot and Mickey rock 'n' roll have made the group one of the most innovative musicians of the genre.

Jessie Al Khal manager of T-Vice

Jessie Al Khal is believed to be the only mother to talented musicians, a wife to a great and popular guitarist and a musician herself. She was born and raised in Haiti where she started her career and where she was able to easily make it out of being a great and loved artist. She then got married to her husband Robert Martino and they had two sons Roberto and Reynaldo Martino.

It was a great achievement in which they all got to be very famous and known all throughout the country and as such they got it a great. It was the great achievement of the brother in establishing one of the most famous bands in the country that the family got noticed and that it got the kind of reception it needed.
