Remembering the Skah Shah Number One

This band is well known as Shah-Shah #1. It is a Haitian band that composes and sings the Compas music. The Skah Shah was established in the year 1974.

It was made up of well known and reputable Haitian music such as Jean Elie Telfort, Jean Michel, Cubano, Loubert Chancy and Saint Victor AKA Zouzoul. This was a group of very excellent artists and who had gained some recognition in the Haitian music industry.

The Shak Shah band made its first recording in the year 1974 and one of the songs that made a hit included Sentiment, Caroline, Ozanana, Bel Ti Machande and Macho man. These are just some of the few songs that led to the growth of the fame of the band.

In 1970, Skah Shah became the band that was known for inspiring the young generation. It connected with the young people as well as introduced a new culture of lyrics in the Haitian music industry.

The Skah Shah band has grown tremendously and is being recognized at the international level. They sung about messages that touched on the Haitian community such as social, political and economic issues.
