The carnival celebrations, which began in Haiti in 1935, have become a staple in the country. Despite the economic situation, the festival that brings in the Lenten period is always expected and anticipated. It is a time when debauchery is expected, sanctioned by the government and forgiven during the holy period following it. Leading the festivities is the popular bands such as Kreyol La, T-Micky, T-Vice, and Djakout #1.
