Elections are always an important tool in a democracy. However, in some ways, it has become a whip on the back of the Haitian population. There is a sizable percentage of the population in Haiti who do not want good elections to take place in Haiti. Until we agree on democratic principles, understand the need to establish a fairly elected government, the country will continue to organize electoral carnivals repeatedly.
