Jocelyn Beroard the Antilles Golden Disc Award Honoree

Jocelyn Beroard, a native of the Antilles, is one of the founding members of the zouk-influenced group Kassav', meaning cassava, a tuberous root used to make tapioca. Jocelyn began as a back-up singer in 1980, singing on Kassav''s second album Lagué mwen. Eventually, Jocelyn would become lead vocalist for the 15-member group, but not before they underwent many changes in their line-up. As Kassav' formed and re-formed, two dancers joined the group, a natural extension to the African and European cross-pollinating rhythms, which create an energetic and irresistible dance beat.
