Strings Pioneers a New Sound in Haitian Folk Music. Haitian folk trio Strings, formed in 1996, consists of Jacky Ambroise, Philippe Augustin, and Ralph Blanchard. They play acoustic guitar, combining influences of flamenco, South American folk, and jazz. Beethoven and the Beatles are also in their repertoire.

They have performed in prestigious venues around the world, including Japan's Haitian Embassy and at the Presidents' Summit in Chile. Their new CD, Tropical Mood, mixes Strings' songs and also covers of other musicians.
