Every year about three quarters of a million people gather here to watch the masquerade balls, and parades performed by a dozen or so local krewes and social clubs. Each individual parade depicts a specific subject. They flash body parts while onlookers chuck sweets at them. Mardi Gras is one of the most exciting times to visit New Orleans.
